What I Do?

I create fine art oil paintings on archival quality fine linen canvases. My oil paints are long-lasting and made of high quality materials.

My color pencil drawings are completed on hot press watercolor paper. I use soft point colored pencils. The soft point pencils have more pigment and less binder.
The prints and cards I make, I use archival quality ink (giclee), along with the highest quality paper that I can find.

How I Do It

My favorite subjects to paint are the beautiful Northwest woodlands, ocean beaches, still life, and animals. My oil paintings are painted with six layers. When the oil painting is completed, it requires six months of drying time; drying, cleaning, and varnishing completes the process. Varnishing protects the oil painting.

Colored pencil is not a very forgiving medium. I must get it right the first time. If a mistake is made, I have to start over. With colored pencil drawings, I generally start with layers of light color first, building up the color until I have the correct intensity and saturation that I desire. When a drawing is completed, a permanent sealer spray is applied. This protects the piece from fading and damage from the environment.

Prints and cards are made to bring my art to life, as does the original. They are vibrant, archival, have high resolution, and resist fading. Prints are made to last with proper care.
